General Description:

The Lead Quality Inspector supervises and coordinates activities of Quality Inspectors who are engaged in inspecting and testing components and component assemblies as they proceed through stages of assembly process. He/she applies knowledge of quality assurance standards and procedures: reviews quality assurance instructions, assembly specifications, and production schedules. He/she also directs Quality Inspectors in inspection and testing, to assure the regulatory standards are met.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Quality Manager in developing and maintaining procedures and work instructions.
  • Establishes program to evaluate the proper function and calibration of production equipment and analytical equipment.
  • Implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and maintains the quarantine area to ensure that all products are evaluated in a timely manner.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Suggests and implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase safety and efficiency.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Assists the Quality Manager to develop and implement training programs as required.

Minimum Qualifications for Position: 

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.   
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Preferred Qualifications for Position:

  • Member of ASQ
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma is a bonus.
  • Knowledge or experience with relational databases a bonus.
