This position would be responsible for the electrical control system design of our conveyor solutions, programming PLCs, troubleshooting, and/or installations. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected in day to day work. Travel might be required. The position is based in Spruce Pine, North Carolina.
Responsibilities
- Own the electrical portion and the concept engineering through our implementation.
- Design control systems in support of conveying applications where specific features of conveyor equipment are enhanced (enabled) by electronic controls.
- Independently write, implement, document and debug software for controls systems including field devices such as photoeyes, shaft encoders, barcode scanners, solenoids, scales, etc…
- Independently design in CAD electrical control panel layouts, bills of materials and schematics
- Execute budgeting, estimating and pricing of control systems per project or proposal scope.
- Manage procurement of electrical and control components for control systems.
- Oversee value engineering of design, components and materials.
- Manage and in-plant installation and commissioning of control systems in conjunction with equipment installations or leads project commissioning and troubleshooting of field installations
- Create documentation and training materials for all potential users including but not limited to our own engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Conduct in-plant troubleshooting of our control systems.
- Complete assigned projects to quality standards, on time, and within budget.
- Interface with a global team of like-minded professionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree required in Computer Programming, Engineering or other related field.
- Programming experience – 1-4 years related experience preferred
- Expertise in industrial control circuit design
- Proficient in configuring PLC’s, HMI’s, computers, networks, cameras and variable frequency drives which are used to control sorter, conveyors, and other related equipment
- Proficient in AutoCad LT for control circuit development or similar experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Mastery of English language.
- Willingness and ability to train Equipment builders.
- Work in a team environment; acceptance of established standards.
- Understanding of mechanical systems; willingness to work with hand tools.
- Ability and willingness to travel if needed and work weekends holidays and overtime when required.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience programming in Rockwell Logix500 and Logix5000 processors using RsLogix500 and Studio5000 programming software
- Proficient programming Siemens S7-1200 processors using TIA Portal V13.
